MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving utilizes ZipGive's Text to Donate services in their fundraising efforts through mobile Text to Give fundraising!
Founded by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) is the nation’s largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking. With the help of those who want a safer future, MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving® will end this danger on America’s roads. And as one of the largest victim services organizations in the U.S., MADD also supports drunk driving victims and survivors at no charge, serving one person every 9 minutes at 1-877-MADD-HELP.
MADD's Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving® has the goal of protecting our families from drunk driving and ultimately ending the threat of drunk driving on American roads by: Support the heroes who keep our roads safe. High-visibility law enforcement catches drunk drivers and discourages others from driving drunk; Require convicted drunk drivers to blow before they go. Ignition interlock devices, or in-car breathalyzers, require all convicted drunk drivers to prove they are sober before the car will start; Turn cars into the cure. Tomorrow’s cars will protect each of us, automatically determining whether or not the driver is at or above the legal limit of .08 and failing to operate if the driver is impaired.
Their success is measured in the number of lives saved. Drunk driving fatalities declined 12 percent from 2006 to 2008, which means that, together, we’ve saved thousands of lives in just those two years. All together, we have saved almost 300,000 lives ... and counting. But there are still far too many people killed in drunk driving crashes each year – 10,839 killed in 2009. In fact, one in three in this country will be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lifetime. Our goal is to change this number and reduce drunk driving (.08+ BAC) fatalities below 10,000 by 2012.
ZipGive is pleased that MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving has chosen ZipGive's Text to Give platform to support the organization's mobile fundraising and donor outreach programs.
