Christmas Pulling in Mobile Donations |
|
Tuesday, 03 January 2012 12:24 |
|
Donations by text were forefront this holiday season clear across the country. Numbers as yet are not in, but indications are that the ZipGive campaigns are assisting in fulfilling the budgets of many non-profit agencies and organizations in this less than winter feeling season.
In Hamilton Ontario the Salvation Army resorted to using technology this past Christmas in its fundraising campaigns - a virtual kettle allowed for online donations and donors could also use their cellphones to text “Hope 45678” where $5 would be added to their bill to cover the donation. For Edmontonians they were able to text Christmas to 45678 for a $10 donation to the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton.
The inordinately warm weather was thought to have affected shopping habits nearing the Christmas season, yet early indications are that spending increased over the past year. Where spending goes, so do donations and it is hoped that utilization of Donations by Text technology made the difference this giving season that just passed. |

The Ontario SPCA utilizes ZipGive's Text to Donate platforms in their fundraising efforts through mobile Text to Give fundraising!
Through its province-wide network the Ontario SPCA (Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is one of the largest, most responsive animal welfare organizations in the country, providing care and shelter for tens of thousands of animals every year. As a non-profit charitable organization, the Ontario SPCA is unique amongst animal welfare organizations in Ontario: the Ontario SPCA Act mandates the Society to enforce animal cruelty laws and provides Ontario SPCA Community investigators with police powers to do so.
For over a century the Ontario SPCA has provided province-wide leadership on matters relating to the prevention of cruelty to animals and the promotion of animal welfare, and worked with its Communities to encourage humane and suitable animal care; call attention to unacceptable practices that harm animals; investigate cruelty complaints; carry out rescues; bring perpetrators of cruelty to court; advocate for humane laws; and provide care to all animals in need.
The Society's programs and services include: Cruelty Investigations; Sheltering and Adoptions; Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation; Government and Industry Advocacy; Humane Education; Reducing Pet Overpopulation; Emergency Rescue and Treatment; Reuniting Lost Pets with their Owners; Family Violence Assistance Program (helping care for the pets of women in women's shelters); and, Youth and Animal Project (dog training program that matches hard-to-adopt dogs with troubled youth, who act as trainers)
These are exciting times for the Ontario SPCA and all people who care about animals. As animal welfare issues take a greater place in the consciousness of our communities and legislatures, the Society's opportunities to effect meaningful change - and yours - increase dramatically.

MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving utilizes ZipGive's Text to Donate services in their fundraising efforts through mobile Text to Give fundraising!
Founded by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) is the nation’s largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking. With the help of those who want a safer future, MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving® will end this danger on America’s roads. And as one of the largest victim services organizations in the U.S., MADD also supports drunk driving victims and survivors at no charge, serving one person every 9 minutes at 1-877-MADD-HELP.
MADD's Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving® has the goal of protecting our families from drunk driving and ultimately ending the threat of drunk driving on American roads by: Support the heroes who keep our roads safe. High-visibility law enforcement catches drunk drivers and discourages others from driving drunk; Require convicted drunk drivers to blow before they go. Ignition interlock devices, or in-car breathalyzers, require all convicted drunk drivers to prove they are sober before the car will start; Turn cars into the cure. Tomorrow’s cars will protect each of us, automatically determining whether or not the driver is at or above the legal limit of .08 and failing to operate if the driver is impaired.
Their success is measured in the number of lives saved. Drunk driving fatalities declined 12 percent from 2006 to 2008, which means that, together, we’ve saved thousands of lives in just those two years. All together, we have saved almost 300,000 lives ... and counting. But there are still far too many people killed in drunk driving crashes each year – 10,839 killed in 2009. In fact, one in three in this country will be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lifetime. Our goal is to change this number and reduce drunk driving (.08+ BAC) fatalities below 10,000 by 2012.
ZipGive is pleased that MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving has chosen ZipGive's Text to Give platform to support the organization's mobile fundraising and donor outreach programs. |

ZipGive's Text to Donate program is helping the Nanaimo District Hospital Foundation in their fundraising efforts through mobile Text to Give fundraising!
Their Vision - Excellent Healthcare, Facilities & Equipment. Their Mission - The Foundation creates opportunities for donors to advance healthcare in our communities. Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation was established in 1977 as a means through which grateful patients and loved ones could "give back" to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). NRGH is a primary care facility and designated regional referral hospital for communities north of Victoria, including Port Alberni, North Island and the Island's west coast. The Foundation began actively fundraising in 1991 in response to the rising cost of delivering quality healthcare on Central Vancouver Island. Since then, they have raised over $31 million for NRGH and our residential healthcare facilities.
Advancements in medical treatments and technologies, growing demand for services - government healthcare funding simply can't cover it all. The Foundation raises much-needed dollars for state-of-the-art medical equipment, new facilities and renovations, and continuing education for healthcare professionals. They also provide a means through which conscientious corporations and individuals can say "thank you" by making a real contribution to healthcare delivery in our Central Vancouver Island communities.
